The mystery of Rocca, the magical Mefite and the Goleto Abbey
The journey begins at Mefite, a naturalistic, historical and archaeological site with a small sulphurous lake where the mud is constantly boiling and you can meet archaic characters, such as the mysterious Osco.
Continue to the Carmasciando farm, where the legendary Carmascian pecorino will be tasted. Slow Food Presidium, unique in the world, with a robust olfactory note of sulfur, hints of fresh milk, freshly cut grass and flowers, which takes its name from the grazing area located around the Mefite.
The journey continues to the ancient village of Rocca San Felice with the small archaeological museum and climbing up to the ancient Castle (the Rocca), where you can enjoy a magnificent 360 ° view over the Fredane River Valley. We continue to discover an ancient abbey dating back to the twelfth century, founded on an ancient Roman villa. The Abbey was built by William, a young hermit and pilgrim who came from Santiago de Compostela and was headed for the Holy Land.
